NCT Preparation – Dublin

D Fitzgerald Autos provide pre-NCT checks and repairs at our workshop in Dublin.

An NCT, or National Car Test, is a mandatory requirement in Ireland by the Road Safety Authority. It is a check conducted every two years on private cars under ten years old (or every year for cars older than ten years) to assess a car’s visible and accessible, mechanical, and emissions components for roadworthiness.

Any defects found on the test must be repaired and the car must pass a re-test before the vehicle can be issued with an NCT Certificate. The test should not be considered as an alternative to the owner’s responsibility for ensuring the roadworthy condition of a car at all times, or arranging its essential routine maintenance.

D Fitzgerald Autos are an experienced garage in carrying out pre-NCT inspections on cars and providing owners with an assessment relating to passing the test, or advice regarding any work that will be required prior to the test to ensure it passes. The team at our modern workshop facility in Dublin are knowledgeable, honest, and fully transparent, so you can rest assured that at D Fitzgerald Autos you are in good hands before your NCT. We can often take your vehicle to the test centre on your behalf too, it’s all part of the service.
